Introduction
Ragnarok. The final battle. Not all gods are immortal. Not all gods are infallible. The land was once ruled by such beings. It is said that when the wolf, Skoll, swallowed the sun, Heimdall sounded his mighty horn and all the forces of earth met on the battlefield. This battle was to mark a new age in history. That age was to be led by only the strongest; the ones who survived Ragnarok.
In the beginning there were the Jotun. They were massive, giant beings with respectable skills in magic. Generally speaking they possessed moderate intelligence though. The Jotun ruled the land until the day the Aesir appeared. The Aesir were clever beings and even more powerful than the Jotun. These new beings often did not play fair, and because of this and their power, they were destined to become the new gods of the land. In their fear and ignorance of the Jotun, they decided to slay them all to the man in a horrifically bloody battle; or so they thought. Two giants survived and repopulated the land; thus becoming bitter enemies.
Enter the Vanir; a lost race of gods who wanted nothing less than their share of control of the nine worlds that made the land. Many battles ensued with the now dominant Aesir, but both sides knew they could not sustain the fighting with the Jotun waiting on the sides. A treaty was made, and as a sign of good faith the Aesir and Vanir were to trade their best people. But in true Aesir fashion they shortchanged the Vanir and dismissed them; once again becoming the dominant figureheads of the land and resuming their war with the Jotun.
A fragile balance was in place, and thousands of years passed by. Continued treachery by the Aesir, now running through their own ranks, spurred the inevitable. Thus, forces amassed in preparation of one last epic battle.
This is where history takes a turn. A lost legend tells us that shortly before Ragnarok a group of forgotten Vanir were set on revenge and destiny. While having a common goal, each of the Vanir was secretly determined to be the One to rule the nine worlds.
Allegiances will shift, many will perish, only the strongest will survive. Seven days remain, and the story unfolds…
